Here at the end of the book of Numbers there was a question asked of Moses about the division of the land to female heirs. This chapter tells of the concern of the people of Manasseh and of the solution that was proposed. The women involved, the daughters of Zelophehad, were obviously satisfied because they followed the guideline given. It became the law among Israelites who had only female children to inherit their estate.
Does God issue any commands in this chapter?
- Moses instructed (and perhaps God did as well since He originally ruled on their behalf in Numbers chapter 27) that the daughters of Zelophehad that were to inherit their father's portion of the land marry within their tribe so that the land would remain within the tribe of Manasseh. This instruction was given and decreed for all similar situations that might arise so that the title of the land would never be moved from tribe to tribe.
Does God make any promises?
- God does not speak.
Does this chapter teach anything about Jesus?
- None that I identified.
Does this chapter teach anything about yet-future events?
- None that I identified.

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
