TAKE TIME Assignment: April 8-13

Introduction: The journey to the Promised Land has begun! Hooray! And so has the grumbling. Boo! This week we will see how God preserved His people through many problems, including war with a fierce nation. After a few months of travel God took them to the special place where He explained His covenant to them. He also gave them the rules that they were to follow to show that they were a people set apart from the rest of the world.

Reading Assignment:
  • Monday - Exodus 17:1-18:27
  • Tuesday - Exodus chapter 19
  • Wednesday - Exodus 20:1-21:11
  • Thursday - Exodus 21:12-22:15
  • Friday - Exodus 22:16-23:19
  • Saturday - Exodus 23:20-24:18

Memory Verse

Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:.  Exodus 19:5

Prayer Journal (ACTS)
  • Adoration - This week take time each day to praise God for His holiness!
  • Confession - Like the Children of Israel, we are prone to grumble. Confess this.
  • Thanksgiving - Thank God for His forgiveness!
  • Supplication - What are your prayer requests this week? List them for future reference so that you can see how God answers.

Search the Scriptures

Look for references for each of the following:
  • Promises that God made and to whom He made them. Do they apply to you?
  • References that either refer to or infer something about future events.
  • What does this passage teach about Jesus?
  • Commandments that God made and to whom He made them. Do they apply to you?

Putting the Word into Action

God knew that His people need rest so He created the Sabbath day as a day for worship and rest. Check your schedule. Are you leaving too many of your weekly obligations until Sunday? If so, make a list of the things that you do on that day and spread them over the other 6 days so that you can take some time off on Sunday. Under the old covenant God provided a day of rest after 6 days of work. Under the new covenant He provides a day of rest before the next 6 days of work. Don't cheat yourself out of this day to relax after spending time with God's people in church.
