TAKE TIME: March 4-9 Reading Assignment

Introduction: Our reading this week covers a transition from Isaac to his son, Jacob. We will see how God begins to fulfill the promise made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to make them a multitude that cannot be numbered. We will also see how Jacob is made to confront some of his fears, to make amends for wrongs he inflicted upon his brother, and to trust God in every difficult situation.

Reading Assignment:
  • Monday - Genesis 29:1-35
  • Tuesday - Genesis 30:1-43
  • Wednesday - Genesis 31:1-55
  • Thursday - Genesis 32:1-33:16
  • Friday - Genesis 33:17-34:31
  • Saturday - Genesis 35:1-29

Memory Verse

I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto they servant;  Genesis 32:10a

Prayer Journal (ACTS)
  • Adoration - This week take time each day to praise God for being omnipotent! It is His power that fights and wins battles for His children.
  • Confession - God already knows about each sin but confess any as they come to your mind and ask Him to help you not sin that way again.
  • Thanksgiving - Thank God for His protection over you!
  • Supplication - What are your prayer requests this week? List them for future reference so that you can see how God answers.

Search the Scriptures

Look for references for each of the following:
  • Promises that God made and to whom He made them. Do they apply to you?
  • References that either refer to or infer something about future events.
  • What does this passage teach about Jesus?
  • Commandments that God made and to whom He made them. Do they apply to you?

Putting the Word into Action

Jacob had deeply offended his brother, Esau, which led to fear over their next meeting. Is there someone that you know you have offended and hope not to accidentally meet? Take action now and write them a note of apology.
