Genesis 41:1-49
Does God make any promises in this passage?
Through Pharoah's dreams and Joseph's interpretation of them God promises that there will be 7 years of abundant crops followed by 7 years of famine.
Are there any references to Jesus?
Joseph is a type of Christ in the following ways:
- He is the savior of the land
- He is promoted to the second in command. Only Pharoah is a higher ruling authority than Joseph
- He is dressed in robes of royalty and exalted by the supreme ruler.
- Everyone bowed to their knees when he passed.
Are there any references to eternity or other yet future events?
Jesus will one day
- rule as conquering savior
- be recognized by all as the Righteous Judge who reigns as second in command to His Father
- be seen by all in His robes and jewels fit for a king
- have everyone bow to their knees in His presence
Does God issue any commands?
God does not speak, but through the directions of Joseph God warns the Egyptians to save part of the harvest of the 7 bountiful years for use during the 7 years of famine.
